Right to be forgotten
Request deletion of your personal data, or removal of content about you.
Your rights
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants you several rights over the data we hold about you:
- Access : obtain a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification : correct inaccurate information.
- Erasure : request deletion of your data.
- Objection : object to a specific form of processing.
- Portability : retrieve your data in a reusable format.
Deleting your account
If your request concerns only your account, the quickest route is to delete it yourself from your profile. Associated data — saved articles, preferences — is erased immediately.
Requesting removal of content
You can ask for an article that names you to be de-listed or anonymised. Send your request from the Contact page, setting out:
- the exact link to the article concerned;
- the passage that names you;
- the grounds for your request;
- proof of identity, to guard against fraudulent requests.
Weighing this against press freedom
The right to be forgotten is not absolute. As for any news outlet, it is balanced against the public’s right to information: a request concerning a matter of public interest, particularly about someone holding public office, may be refused. Any refusal is explained to you in writing.
Timescales and appeals
We answer every request within one month, extended to three months where the request is complex — you are told if that happens.
If our answer does not satisfy you, you may refer the matter to the Belgian Data Protection Authority, which has jurisdiction over Roigle Media.
